Mike Billups CPA

President

Mike Billups has over 30 years of experience providing tax and accounting services to businesses and individuals.

He grew up in Happy Valley and graduated from Clackamas High School. After completing service in the Navy in Viet Nam, Mike attended Portland State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1976. In 1982 he started his practice after receiving his license as an Oregon Certified Public Accountant.

Mike’s clients include many companies involved in real estate, construction, transportation and agriculture. He is an experienced expert in personal and business taxation and in representing taxpayers before the IRS and state and local tax authorities.

Mike is a member of the the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Gladstone Rotary Club, the Tyee Yacht Club (past Commodore), and the Milwaukie Elks.

Stephen Ashby CPA

Accounting and Auditing Manager

Stephen Ashby has over 26 years of experience in accounting including over twenty years in public accounting.  Much of his career has involved serving the accounting and tax needs of individuals, small businesses and non-profit organizations.

Steve is a 1982 graduate of Portland State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on accounting.  He received an MBA degree from the University of Phoenix in 2009.  Steve was an adjunct faculty member of the Department of Business, George Fox University where he taught small business management and computer applications business.

He has been active in the community and served on the City of Newberg Planning Commission for three years and chaired the Newburg Urban Management Area Commission (Numac) for six years.  In addition he has served on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations and churches.

Steve has been an Oregon licensed Certified Public Accountant since 1986 and is licensed  to perform Oregon municipal audits.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants and is a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

Gwendolyn Lynch CPA

Senior Accountant

Gwendolyn is an experienced accountant who has worked in both private industry, as a Chief Financial Officer in the manufacturing and retail industry, and in public accounting.

She is a native of Texas. Gwendolyn graduated from The Evergreen State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese Studies, Art History, and Fine Arts, in 2000. She received a Masters of Accounting and Financial Management degree from the Keller School of Management in 2007. She has been with The Billups Company CPA’s since 2007, and became an Oregon licensed Certified Public Accountant in 2010.

In addition to individual and business taxation, her expertise includes Quickbooks setup and use, and helping small businesses design and implement effective accounting systems.

Sophanna Kuch

Staff Accountant

Sophanna graduated from the University of Oregon and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing.  He obtained his Accounting Post-Baccalaureate from Portland State University.

He is an experienced accountant who has worked in both private industry and public accounting performing work in tax, audit and advisory fields.

He is currently preparing for the CPA exam.

Sue Scheel

Office Manager

Sue greets our clients at the front desk, answers the phones and keeps the office running smoothly with her highly competent administrative skills. She has extensive office experience including experience with other accounting firms.

Sue is a licensed tax preparer and is very skilled and knowledgeable in bookkeeping and payroll.
